How to Create an Auction

Follow these simple steps to set up auctions on your Shopify store

Install the App

Go to the Shopify App Store and search for "Bid Online Auction". Click the "Install" button and follow the instructions to add the app to your Shopify store.

Enable App Embeds

After installation, enable app embeds to display auction blocks on product pages. Follow these steps:

  • Go to your Shopify admin panel.
  • Navigate to Online Store > Themes > Customize.
  • Open the App Embeds tab.
  • Enable the Bid Online Auction app.
  • Important: This app is compatible with all themes. By default, it works out of the box with any theme that includes the .product-form class on the product detail page, such as Shopify's Dawn theme. You can also customize the selector and modify the design of the auction block to match your theme if needed.

Open the App

Go to the Apps section in your Shopify admin panel and click on Bid Online Auction to open the app dashboard.

Create a New Auction

Navigate to the Auctions tab and click the Create Auction button in the upper right corner.

Configure Auction Details

Fill out the following fields on the Create Auction page:

  • Start Date and End Date: Define the auction duration.
  • Start Amount: Set the initial bid amount.
  • Bid Increment: Define the minimum bid increment.
  • Reserve Amount (Pro Plan): Set a minimum acceptable price.
  • Buyout Amount (Pro Plan): Define an instant buyout price.
  • Variant Selection (Pro Plan): Allow the winning bidder to choose their preferred product variant (e.g., size, color) after the auction ends.
  • Popcorn Bidding (Pro+ Plan): Enable extended bidding in the last 5 minutes.

Save the Auction

After configuring the auction details, click Save. You will be redirected to the auction list page where you can manage all active and completed auctions.

View Auction on Product Page

Click the Eye icon in the Actions column to view the auction on the product page. The auction block will display relevant auction information and bidding options.

Place Bids

Logged-in users can place bids on active auctions. Bid amounts will be updated in real-time for all users viewing the product page.
